The Department of Agricultural Engineering focuses on training technicians in the area of agricultural engineering.

Apart from a human scientific basic education our pupils get insight into theoretical and practical foundations of engineering which are required in agriculture and forestry. There is almost no machine as complex as a modern agricultural machine. That is the reason why the content of our technical subjects is very diverse.

Our training should be closely related to practice. That is the reason why our training is also supported by teaching lessons of industrial technicians and of employees from our research centre BLT. Due to the close relationship to the research department with regard to staff and local nearness our pupils enjoy decisive advantages. This may be crucial because they constantly come into contact with the latest developments in the sector of agricultural engineering.

The practical training takes place in our department for production engineering (FTZ) situated on the site of the research department of the BLT.  The regular courses last for five years and are finalized with the matriculation and diploma examination. This department is the only training institute for agricultural technology throughout Austria.
