Abstracts
The overall aim of the project is the analysis of the wood chips quality at heating appliances on single farms and biomass district heating owned by farmers´ cooperatives in Austria. During the last decades the chip production technology has been changed dramatically. Some twenty five years ago manually fed disc chipper owned by several farmers were usual. Nowadays most of the on farms and in the near agricultural sector used wood chips are produced with high power drum chippers operated by professionals. Based on this technology the type of used raw material has changed. Partially whole trees are forwarded and chipped. This is the reason for the potential increase of the mineral content (ashcontent) of the solid biofuel. Based on the analysis results starting points for the improvement of the wood chips quality can be identified and implemented.
