Identification and authenticity control of regional fruit production

Specific program objective 1.1: Strengthening the cooperation between key actors in the regional innovation system and building capacities and common framework conditions to promote knowledge transfer, joint research and innovation.


The aim of the project is to contribute:

  • to create an innovative cross-border region based on intelligent products, research and development, based on close cooperation between commercial enterprises, research and development centers and higher education institutions

  • to protect regional apricot producers, as well as other regional producers of agricultural products, on both sides of the border

Individual project goals:

  • Investigation of the current genetic variability and the isotope-chemical signature of apricots from the region of Eastern Austria, Western Slovakia and other countries
  • Raising awareness among producers regarding the possibilities of characterizing apricots and informing the public / consumers regarding the control of regionally produced fruits

Core outputs of the project:

  • Map with the current occurrence of the examined species / variety as well as map with the sampling points
  • Database with the results
  • Training plan
