Four sectoral test and trial facilities for AI and robotics under the "Digital Europe" program

In order for the EU to become a world leader in the development of safe and trustworthy AI applications and robotics solutions, so-called TEFs (Test and Experimentation Facilities) have been established for several business sectors.

The TEFs are aiming to support all kind of technology companies in Europe with a wide range of services to help test and further develop innovative product prototypes under real conditions. At present, there are four sectoral TEFs, which are intended to promote the introduction of AI- and robotics-based technologies in the respective economic sectors:

AgrifoodTEF: AgrifoodTEF is a cooperation of European countries responsible for technologies in the agricultural and food production sector, testing, for example, robots for use in the field under real conditions.

TEF-Health: From complex brain simulations to robots for rehabilitation, medical products are the focus of TEF-Health. Complying with strict European regulations and the highest standards of reliability & safety, TEF-Health helps bring prototypes to market.

AI-Matters: autonomous systems, AI and robots are to increase the flexibility and resilience of European production sites. For this purpose, for example, the use of drones in industrial warehouses is being tested.

CitCom.ai: The TEF "for Smart Cities and Communities" offers testing and experimentation opportunities for AI and robotics solutions that are being developed with the aim of making our everyday lives easier, e.g. in the area of visits to the authorities, everyday errands and citizen services.
